There are a lot of oracle decks out there on the market today. If you've been reading my blog or visited my website or my MySpace, you may noticed that one of the readings I offer is oracle card readings.
But first, for those of you who aren't familiar about oracle decks. What are they exactly?
Oracle Card decks are basically cards with symbolic imagery, almost like tarot, but they all have specific meanings and you pretty much use your psychic abilities more. They are usually more positive and uplifting. They are used for guidance and support and advice, as well as for divination. What makes them different from tarot, is they don't have spreads. Usually you ask a question and shuffle the deck, pull a card, and you have your answer. And you can ask more than one question and keep pulling cards until you have a feeling "to stop".
They are a lot more easier to learn than tarot, but today, I am discussing how you can choose the right oracle deck for you.
First, browse. Browse online or through a metaphysical shop. Look at the artwork of the cards, and the messages/answers the cards give. In a way, this is sort of like how you would buy tarot cards. How I chose my decks, I was either drawn to the artwork or spirit just told me I needed the cards.
One particular time spirit directed me was with the "Archangel Oracle" by Doreen Virtue. It showed up to me in a dream. I've seen the deck before, but I didn't plan on choosing it because I wanted to keep religion away from my practice and be as non-denominational as I could be. I don't remember the dream much other than seeing the deck in my dreams. I knew this deck chose me. So about two weeks after I had the dream, I purchased the deck and I connected immediately with it. And I was surprised that it wasn't preachy and just about everyone of all faiths would get use out of the deck. And it brought comfort to me. In a way, I guess it was my guides telling me the angels wanted to work with me and more people needed to be aware of the archangels. This deck is one of my favorites.
Another way you can choose an oracle deck is your interest. Are you into mermaids? Do you like flowers? Do you collect unicorns? Chances are, you may find an oracle deck pertaining to your interest and it was meant for you.
No matter what oracle deck you choose, more than likely, you are meant for the messages that are in the oracle deck. And if you read for other people like I do, it's best to have a variety of different oracle decks so your client can choose what peaks their interest or they are drawn to it. Remember, reading cards (playing cards, tarot cards, and oracle cards) is reading energy. It helps you, the reader, when the client choose cards that connects with their energies.
